There is an ugly truth that hides in Idolatry. One so well covered under the mask of righteousness. To uncover the sad truth, we have to look at the foundation. We have to see clearly why there is such an attraction to idols. The truth is plainly seen in this statement, yet likely rejected. Idolatry is attractive as a replacement for their own identity. Feeling broken and weak with self-criticism, people, out of desperation, turn to idols to try and save themselves. Always in groups for power, and most of all acceptance. They move with purpose, and push there message of reason. They fight with fierce conviction and absolutely will not listen to anything contrary.
Why? Because their very life depends on it. They give themselves so completely to the cause, it becomes the foundation of their existence. No matter how obvious reality contradicts their belief, they can not afford to look. It’s pure survival. And it’s sad to say, but even if faced with a sinking ship they righteously go down proclaiming victory. There can be no greater feeling than sacrifice for a God given right. Always, God will be brought in to legitimize and sanctify beyond any ability to question. Wielded like a desperate cry. You, must come to see this truth, lest ye be damned.
So complete is the poison effective. Your perception will not see anything contrary. You simply can not survive a fallen idol. Now here is the really sad truth beneath the need for an idol. An idol is a complete rejection of yourself. Yourself, that carries a darkness you simply can not bare. A feeling deep within that terrifies and you must find safe haven. Where can I go, where? Nothing shines like an idol to the condemned. Always, the promise of salvation. Come with us, we know the way. You are safe with us. And most importantly you are righteous. Now you can sit with us and bask in the glory of God. We have his blessing. All the while, hiding the fire deep within.
It’s quite startling to see it spelled out. If you identify with an idol, you are not still reading, or you are not paying attention. Not paying attention is an absolute must, if you are going to identify with an idol. The greatest idol in human history, was the loudest voice that spoke out against idolatry. How’s that for irony? He said the Kingdom of God is among you, (within you). It doesn’t come with signs to be perceived. It’s in the midst of you. And it’s in this very midst that the altar of God, Is. Here is the sobering truth. It’s this, the very essence of your existence that is so fiercely rejected. The very thing that all idols claim to be, is the very thing that all idolaters reject.
They reject themselves, and by doing so, reject reality in favor of idolatry. Idolatry doesn’t have to come in the form of another. It can just as easily survive as an opinion of yourself. An opinion that carries the power of God to enforce it. Yes, that’s right. What did he say? It’s the father within me that does the works. The works were well noted, because they weren’t normal. They were unknown and beyond what could be conceived of to that point. This doesn’t however mean the works aren’t flowing out from all of us continuously. Ask and ye shall receive.
The greater point that needs addressed is this. History and present day, is filled with the essential idea of loving God. And this is projected out in a million different ways to what its supposed to look like. The Truth of it, is this. You are not separate from the Truth of God. You are the Truth of God. The Truth of God experiencing itself through you. Knowing this. The Son of God is revealed. You will know the Truth and the Truth will set you free. Free from what? Free from condemning yourself. And in doing so, severing Gods love from your experience. The power of God flows through you, no matter your hearts intention. When you condemn yourself, you ask for experience of that. And it shall be done. When you are released from the prison of self denial it comes on the wings of self love. In the truest and most clear way to put it. Love for yourself, is the love of God.
The reason this will be so rejected is because, coming to know this. You have to give up all of what you have made to cover this fact up. This feels like death, and it is. But not of something real. It’s simply a frightened child’s escape from a misunderstanding. A dark secret to be kept silent. A little misguided feeling that blew up into a world of pain and escape. The discovery of your Truth is there in your deep acceptance within. Kindness shows the way to your open heart. Here, the Kingdom awaits. Not a place, but an experience. A home coming of divine proportion. No experience will touch you like the Truth of your own pure heart. Revealed to you, not as something earned, but as your radiant divine worth, as the Son of God…
