Guardian of the damned

Trouble. If there is a single word to describe human existence, trouble might be the most fitting. The rest of nature dances along in harmony, and then there’s us. Ruling the world, establishing and enforcing our dominance in everyway. You know what they say about the one that cries the loudest? It’s a proclamation of weakness disguised as strength. It’s a way of throwing the perceived enemy off your trail. A way to divert attention away from weakness to avoid being discovered. Because discovery, is certain death. If there is one thing that governs all life it is the will to survive. We are no exception.

So why in the world, do we, the most advanced and dominate species on the planet, feel weak? That question requires a look at the root cause. Something so well hidden, it lives right under the nose of the most intelligent creature on the planet. Like a spy hiding in the fabric of our very existence. It goes completely unseen, with free rein to do what it sees fit. Which is what? Survive of course. What is it and how does it survive right under our nose? The easier of the two questions to answer is the latter. It survives effortlessly because we think we are it.

The most well protected secret ever kept. This all sounds very dramatic and delusional. And to be frank, it also sounds very threatening and confusing. If this sounds about right, welcome to the built in security system and why it’s so well entrenched and hidden. This blog will not be comfortable for most, simply because of our will to survive. To break this down and see clearly, you will have to be willing to be uncomfortable. This goes against our very nature. Let’s face it, comfort is king, and rules our life to a large degree. Yet life really isn’t that comfortable, is it? Up and down we go. Good day, not so good day. Moment to moment, a changing field of emotions.

Well, that’s just life, right? It’s definitely normal human life. What will be the hardest thing to get past, to understand this mysterious cause of human suffering, is the shear scale of it’s impact. When the issue is revealed, you simply won’t be able to wrap your head around it because it’s so seemingly small and insignificant. Even worse than that, it’s normal and completely accepted as such. To give some context for depth and clarity, I will try to set the stage. Let’s look at some basic laws of life. For impact I will give extreme examples. A goat can not naturally give birth to a dolphin. A step further, a dolphin can not be a goat. And the final step. If a dolphin believes it’s a goat and does everything it can to make it true. It’s not going to be an easy life. Could anyone disagree with that? Let’s assume not. Imagine the dolphin throwing itself on the shore to fit its perceived identification. Not a pretty sight. Now imagine the dolphin thinks its very survival depends on it being a goat. Now we are getting to a metaphoric example of the human condition.

Does any other life form have so much trouble just being content? I think I can safely say we all can see how naturally an animal can just be itself with great ease. Completely comfortable in its own skin. Just happy to be alive. Mostly, not a care in the world. What percentage of the time do we feel that? Ok, I think the message is loud and clear. We are not comfortable in our own skin. But we try every conceivable way to find comfort. Nearly our entire focus and motivation is comfort related. To make life easier. Well, let assess. Is life easier, more comfortable? One could easily argue the fact that its become more difficult and complicated. So what gives? A dolphin can’t be a goat, no matter how much it tries to make it comfortable.

This may take some trust and a small leap of faith to deliver this. In my book, “Free Bird”, a quote at the beginning illustrates, why the innocents of a child combined with a highly developed self awareness, “sense of self” sets the stage for potential disaster. The quote simply states: “As you see it, so shall you be it”. A child is completely innocent. Could anyone truly argue that? They trust completely, without even knowing what it means. So full of life. The joy in a child’s eyes lights up a room. One thing that we hold in value and protection above all else is that innocent child. Like a shinning star of innocents we hold them as our greatest treasure. The most lovely treasure. But could you say easy?

Now to where human difficulty is born. Quite literally it starts right after birth. Harmless enough, animals do it all the time and they seem to grow up and maintain a joy for life. There is one fundamental difference between animals and humans. Humans have a depth of self awareness that is backed up with intelligence that is far beyond any other species on the planet. Good right? Yes, so long as this awareness doesn’t blindly adopt an identity, that its not. Because once it does, it will hold on as if its survival depends on it. And now finally, how it happens.

I don’t think anyone would say raising a child is easy. And some would say darn right draining. Here is where the birth of disfunction is born. Two worlds collide and there is only room for one. It’s the child against the already established world of disfunction. What chance does a child have to maintain its innocents and joyous way in a world built on fear. There is zero chance. The child will become what its fed. One thing I want to be perfectly clear about. There is no guilty party. Innocents created the situation and innocents holds it in place. No one did anything wrong. This is so important to get across because it’s what lies at the foundation of the whole mess. And what perpetuates its continuation. Nothing provokes a reaction like a pointing finger. Why is that? There would have to be some belief of it being true or you wouldn’t react. If someone said they like your blue hat and you weren’t wearing a hat, you dismiss them as nuts. But if they said your hair looks like you’ve been wearing a hat, well that’s a different story and may cause you to react whether it’s true or not.

I think we can say without any doubt, for the whole of humanity. Negativity comes easier for humans than being positive. Using just common sense and basic intelligence, wouldn’t there have to be an underling cause for that to be so consistently true? If there was a perfectly neutral foundation, the law of averages wouldn’t have it so skewed in one direction. So what’s the cause? Plain and simple, ignorance. The wheel of disfunction started long ago and it keeps rolling from ignorance. Not the ignorance of the masses but the ignorance of a child. We think that we captain our ships but that job was taken before we could spell captain. In our most precious moments of discovery, in the earliest stages of development. We take on a false identity out of shear survival. Not something most people are going to be open to or listen to and there you have the dilemma. We search the world for comfort and peace and it doesn’t last. We are convinced there must be a way to be that goat. Why? Because it’s much easier to be a goat than to look at what we truly believe we are. And what is that?

That, is not a thing that can be visualized because it was put in place by a child without reason or understanding, which makes it that much harder to let go. Here’s the tragic truth of it. It’s simply a belief that its true nature is unacceptable and worse yet, unlovable. It’s truly heart breaking to imagine and that’s exactly what happens. Every single one of us suffer a broken heart of nonacceptance. Not because there is ill intent. In most cases it happens purely because you can not hide from a child’s intuitive capability. That child will soak up every bit of your self worth issues. No matter how careful you are that child will be what you think you are. The ego is very simply, born out of a cry for love. As you see it, so shall you be it, the fate of a child. Who among us projects only love and light? Where are there two parents that fit that description? I’m not sure that’s happened.

The ego is born for survival. It’s not something evil, it’s survival. Once the child feels it needs to reach for Love and acceptance. From the simplest normal things we have to do to secure the child’s safety and navigating life. It mistakenly takes it as an identifying feature. The child’s mind concludes in an astronomical reduction in value. From the parents intent to show the child it’s doing something wrong the child takes it as, I AM something wrong. And there you have it, the dawn of disfunction. The fall from “Grace”. The human condition. What causes all the trouble in the world. So normal in every way. Think about how normal we have come to accept a baby screaming as if it’s very life was in danger. How we just know that’s normal baby behavior and it’s plain to see the baby is safe and perfectly fine. Is it? We primarily equate a babies safety with physical safety and yes of course we love and give everything we can.

Imagine what it would take to get you to scream and cry like that baby. We some how think it’s different. That because they don’t understand there experience is somehow less. I ask again. What would it take to get you to scream like a baby? You know what it would take. We know very well what it takes for that, and it’s not good. It’s reserved for the absolute worst, “Death”. Death of someone close, whether it be a relationship or physical death or your own death. That’s exactly what that baby or child is feeling. It’s the slow death of it’s innocents. It’s an ugly thing to say, and as the saying goes. “The truth hurts”. If you are open to see it, it’s obvious. The important thing is not to think there is a pointing finger, because there isn’t. WE are in this together and we will right our ship together. Not because we figure out how to, but because we can’t continue trying to be a goat forever.

The dysfunction is held in place with the belief letting it go, means death. The ego is not what you identify as, in truth. The ego is your guardian against the truth you think you are. While the dark secret of damnation is held in place by the innocent mind of a child. The ego guards this secret to the death. How it does this is by creating an alternate sense of self to replace the faulty one. Not an easy thing to do, because it’s impossible. We can’t change what we are in truth, but we can believe we are something different. To attempt this, the ego continuously refers to the vast collection of past experiences and all sorts of other projections to amass a semblance of a personal identity. This is me. I am this. It’s a big job. This is why almost the entire human population has a continuous noisy mind. It’s simply the ego doing its job, protecting you from the child’s belief that seeing what’s hidden, is certain death. What forces everyone to search for comfort that never lasts is the bleeding through of this deeply held secret. No matter what the ego holds up as proof of worthiness, the underlying belief will sabotage every attempt. The short relief and stay of execution the world seems to offer. Is simply your belief that this promissory note from the world, will deliver you your own condemnation.

There simply is nothing that can give you a true and lasting sense of worthiness, save one. You have to let go of the deeply held belief of unworthiness. That means the ego would have to stop its incessant display of identity and allow the belief to be exposed to the light of awareness. We attempt to silence the noise ourselves continuously. All we ever succeed in is temporary relief. Why do drugs, alcohol, television and a thousand other things bring relief? A temporary break from trying to be a goat. The inconvenient truth is this house of cards has to burned to the ground. Where reason and understanding are able to douse the flames of damnation. Where the extreme sadness and hurt of a doomed child can be released and the wound healed once and for all. And the Truth that you are can shine once more. We as a collective are doing this very thing in unprecedented numbers. The time is here for real change. This huge push for freedom is now past the point of return. The energetic change within our totality is now on a course of love and acceptance. It’s a cascade of combined will, that won’t be denied.

The will to survive is strong and it will be reflected as chaos around the world. My only advise is this; become open to kindness towards yourself. With understanding and compassion. Open the door to a process of letting go. Letting go of something that could never be true. The book “Free Bird” is my process of letting go. It holds my life on display to show your worthiness is not a question. It’s your reality, beyond the concept, there could even be a question. This is yours to discover. The likes of which hold no words to describe. You are that which whispers to you from afar. The subtle feeling of goodness that you taste when Grace stills your heart. Follow it. It’s subtle I know. And here is a supportive insight. It is subtle because it’s real strength. It’s your true essence, forever safe, in the arms of Love for all Eternity…
