The mind can seem a fickle friend. One minute saying, “your doing great”, and the next a gnawing sense of wrong doing. One day life is beautiful with an under glow of well-being. The next, a slight change in our hyper sensitive assessment machine, and wellbeing turns dark. If there is one shared experience we can all relate to, it’s this one. No one escapes having this experience. It’s so much a part of the norm that escape from it drives nearly our entire life.
That is a very big statement. How could that be right? It’s certainly understandable that this statement would seem impossible and ridiculous. Easy enough to prove to someone that truly wants to see. First let’s try to establish a foundation of how the mind works and why it seems so turbulent. Lets just cut to the chase and go right to the bottom line. Your mind simply reflects how you feel. Can anyone argue that? Once a feeling sets the tone, the mind follows with supportive allegiance. Here lies the great unseen misunderstanding. Because the mind is loud and obvious we take it to be our core reality.
Watch the precision of this creative force in action. No instrument holds the creative potential of the human mind. No computer or AI will ever reach to the infinite capability of mind. For clarity purposes I will use a computer as an example to illustrate how it works in its dynamic nature. We can say with absolute clarity that a computer is subject to its programing. It can only put out what is put in, so to speak. Lets just say for “Big picture” purposes that our original programming is one of Love and light. A program so beautiful, description is left to the impossible. Artists try with stunning visuals, while musicians reflect in audio brilliance and the poet surrenders to a hearts cry for clarity.
Lovely is the inspiring feel these great artists create. Every sense holds our potential for discovery. Smell can put you in the seat to a feeling of a friendly past experience or even new doorways that encourage a feeling of wellbeing. Can anyone argue that we love the inspiring feelings we experience through our particular brands of enjoyment? Is the experience of enjoyment pleasurable because of the ingredients or is it simply a taste of comfort that quiets the minds? A temporary reprieve, only to return once more. Another helpful look into the inner workings of our experiential nature. We have all heard the expression, “like a fish out of water”.
For clarity let’s prepare the groundwork to see the structure that supports our everyday experience. Stated in the most direct and impactful way possible. The harsh reality of a torturous mind is simply the equivalent of being a fish out of water. The inspirational feelings that calm and illuminate, creating a sanctuary of well-being is us in our natural habitat. Not really a stretch to come on board with those statements. Here is where the ship steers off coarse and goes unseen under the radar. We don’t realize we are continuously running our ships aground.
Using the prior example of the relationship of the computer and its program. Imagine a ships direction being controlled through a program that holds a coarse for a successful voyage and that program has a virus. Not much chance that ship is ever going to maintain coarse. Ok, enough with the metaphors. The hard reality is, the mind simply reflects how you see yourself. Your value and worthiness are constantly supported by your mind. A noisy mind is infected with a virus. Not of substance but one of ignorance. Placed in the mind of a child, with no anti virus protection. The wrong idea, turns into a life of needing to reach for unconditional love and acceptance. Our navigation for home suddenly appears to be a place to get to, rather than where we are. The subtle or not so subtle support for this surrounds us. In every way our home of acceptance and well-being are beautified through the promise of the worlds whisper. Here is where you will find your peace.
We don’t realize we leave our home trying to escape it. Strange thing to say. Its been said, the world we see is a reflection of how we see ourselves. Fair enough, I think we have come to a place of recognition of this fact. In my book “Free Bird” at the very beginning is a statement that holds the key for a child’s misguided belief. The place where the virus entered freely without even a question, is contained in this very simple statement. “As you see it, so shall you be it”. What is an innocent child to think when it actions aren’t accepted. When it’s made to feel unaccepted and even unloved for its most basic expressions of human behavior. There can be only one result from a mind that knows only trust. Void of all reasoning skills, there is no escape from an ill-conceived embodiment of unworthiness. Reaching for approval and acceptance begins in the innocent and unknowing replacement of the very fabric of our Truth. Equating the wounded and dysfunctional actions of others to be what we are, without question.
This program is false, and that is why the minds reflection feels wrong and something to avoid. It’s our built in default mechanism to guide us home. It seems something to escape, and we search the world to do just that. A virus can not be smoothed over or reasoned with, it must be removed. The trouble is we think we are the virus. Ouch! that isn’t very inspiring to hear. And certainly not a simple fix. Our power of belief can move mountains. It can also imprison us if the power is held by ignorance. Our will to escape the torture of our mind is eclipsed by our need to survive. The very thing we are trying to escape is our belief of what we are. Where the real trouble is, we feel letting go of this belief is death, in every sense of the word. Our own desire and need to escape is doomed by the illusion, escape means death.
That is not a pretty picture. So what’s the answer? The answer lies in the willingness to let go. The willingness to open the door to kindness towards yourself. Understanding that what you feel within, isn’t based in Truth. This is why the noise of mind creates such havoc. It’s the fish out of water. Open yourself to the Truth that you are. Love surrounds you in everyway. Start with small steps in trust of what I say. Just a crack of consideration for yourself. A glimpse to a better way. Live for this discovery of Truth. Know its truth calls to you from your depths. Your intuitive knowing that something isn’t right. It’s not to be found in the world. It’s discovered as you let go of your misguided judgements towards yourself. Direct your will to know the truth, open your mind to be guided. Realize the power you have in your will for freedom. Love will meet you where it’s welcome. You need only take the first step. “An open heart shall find its reflection in the hands of fate”…
