Reality, it’s quite a big topic. Or is it that we make it that way? What can you really say that unifies it as the Truth we all share? Firstly it can not be anything that’s fleeting or changes in any way. Well, that just eliminated everything. What’s left? You could say Being. Not very satisfying though. Nothing there to grasp or hold onto. We are completely surrounded and consumed with perceptual activity. Everything and every thought vying for attention.
Some say Awareness is our truest reality. Sounds very nice, spiritually correct and logical. Sure seems empty. Oops, there’s another definition,” Emptiness.”Might as well throw in one more,” I am that I am.”Seems to me we’ve boiled it down to an empty sack.
So let me get this straight. I’m aware, yet empty, I feel, but that can’t be right because I’m only aware of feeling. Sounds a little bland and disconnected to me. Where do we go from here? An Advaita teacher might say to this, who is this we you are talking about, implying personal identification. It’s true our reality can’t be contained in any form or box.
Seems like I’m writing myself right out of existence. In Truth, there is only one word that could hope to glimpse our reality and that word is experience. It’s something that has to be experienced. Definition can touch on our dynamic aspect, yet experience is the only way to knowing. And knowing requires movement through experiencing something different.
Reality is our Truth discovered, not defined. Through the fiery depths of despair is the truth revealed. Tempered as the residue of definition falls away. Reality dawns in the light of a new day. Here we are born into darkness to know our light. Eternal Love, moving through experience to know itself…
